Icarus sighed a little as he leaned back in his chair, letting his eyes close briefly. So much for not thinking down that road already. He let his eyes open and focus on Annah again, smiling softly. "Well I see no reason why that should be a problem, Shine here generally starts tugging on my arm if she thinks people will be trouble and even then it wouldn't be right of me to ignore the plight of a good drinking companion." He leaned forward again taking another swig of the whisky. "Consider it my pay for the drink, I'll even see if I can't shift the guys for you if they are still there in the morning. I'm sure I have enough space to accommodate a visitor in my place anyway so it's no problem." He gave another warm smile, planning out what he'd need to organise when he got back. He had some spare quilts and things around for the winter that would do, the sofa was reasonably comfortable as well.
"So yeah, whenever you want to make a move just let me know, I should probably get Shine back soon for her sleep anyway but we can kill some more time here if you want." He gave a shrug, making an attempt to finish up the whiskey with another swig.
Shine raised her head at the news about having to sleep. "But I'm not tired, and I want to play and..." a yawn cut her off from going any further. She folded her arms in a pout at the poor timing. "Maybe I'm a little tired." she finished looking away innocently.

"Well then, thanks. Thanks an awful lot, I mean it. Seems I'm having a good day, finding two friendly allies in the same day!" Annah chuckled. She returned Icarus' smile with equal warmth, plus a dollop of gratitude. "It does seem to be quite hard in finding a decent drinking buddy... most people I've met seem to not touch the stuff, or drink too much to try and blot out their life. Sure, this place isn't the most fancy area, but it's definately not the bottom of the barrel by anyone's standards. But thank you, again," she finished, reaching over to give Icarus' hand a squeeze.
Shine's yawn caused Annah to yawn as well. She raised a hand to her mouth and unsuccessfully attempted to stifle it. She hadn't been getting the best sleep in the past few days, and the alcohol had left her once again sleepy and with a warm tummy, which in turn made her feel even more tired. Having the fuzzy feeling back was welcome, however, knowing that she had things more or less under control again.
"I guess it'll be better if we were to push off soonish... I have a feeling that I'll go to sleep as soon as my head hits a soft surface, to be honest," she half-joked. "And as for Shine... well, even Africa can wait until the morning, I reckon."

"Hey now, enough with the praise already, it's not a problem at all. Can't go and loose my new drinking buddy can I now?" Icarus chuckled a little. "And yeah, drinking to forget just tends to make you more miserable than whatever you are trying to forget. As for the area, it's not bad as long as you know where not to go unless you want to risk a fight. Then again I can't say it hasn't been an interesting place to live." He matched her smile at the squeeze of his hand, giving her hand a slight squeeze back. He managed to hold down a yawn as the girls both yawned although he was getting quite tired himself. Getting back soon would probably be the best for all of them he reckoned.
"Shine honey, we are going to go in a bit so do you want me to look after your toys?" he asked the girl on his lap, bringing his hand over to hers so she knew where it was. After a few moments of reluctant holding Shine gave the toys over and Icarus. He placed them into a pocket on his jacket before cuddling the girl with his human arm.
Shine squirmed around a little in his hug as her revenge for having to give her toys over, although she knew they'd be safe with him, she still wanted to play with Bip. She eventually settled down and leaned her head back against him with another yawn.
""Can Annah read me a bedtime story tonight?" she asked looking down to Annah with a cue little smile. As nice as Icarus's stories were he kept telling the same ones and new one would be nice. Besides it was the least they could do for stopping her playtime she figured.
"We'll see." Icarus replied, with a happy sigh as he sat back again. The little girl really did know how to act irresistibly cute when she wanted to, sometimes he ended up telling her three stories before she would finally fall asleep and stop asking him to tell her more.

Annah nodded along to what Icarus was saying. "Well, I'm ready to go whenever you are... all of the stuff I need is with me," she said, and then let out a quick, quiet giggle. "That must sound really strange, like I'd decided not to stay at home tonight before I came out," she blushed despite herself, "it's less that and more a matter of practicality. Sometimes the winds take me and I end up somewhere completely different. I get the odd bout of wanderlust, you understand."
She smiled as the small toy-related scene played out. It really was refreshing to see some good, honest affection for once, as years of watching selfish acts could cause one to become rather cynical if left unchecked. Her head moved to face Shine specifically, when she spoke. "Oh, I'm sure I could brew up a story or two for such a lovely little lady," she replied to both Shine and Icarus. Her smile grew. "It'll be no trouble at all."
Annah glanced at her wristwatch; the old wind-up timepiece had been given to her by her grandfather, back when she still lived underground. Although the light levels in this place didn't correspond too much to what the watch told her, it was still nice to have something small to look at and take care of. She glanced back up at Icarus. "It is getting rather late, though, so I reckon a certain somebody should finish up their whiskey," she said, a small - though not unfriendly - smirk on her face.

Icarus gave a dismissive wave of his hand. "I tend to keep essentials on me as well, never know whats going to happen around here that might leave you needing to camp out somewhere else," he caught himself smiling slightly at her blushing. "If you do tend to go off on little excursions then all the more reason to be prepared." He looked down
Shine's face lit up at the news that she was going to get a story read to her, starting to squirm in Icarus's grip again. "Can we go now, can we go now, can we go now..." she repeated as she bounced up and down happily. Icarus eventually had to pick her up and put her down beside him while he took up his whiskey bottle again.
"Well seems she's eager to get back now. Guess I better not keep you girls waiting," he grinned a little as he finished off the remaining whiskey in one foul swoop, placing the bottle back down on the table with a little more force than was needed. "Right, let's be off then, shall we?" he asked as he stood up, Shine instinctively clinging to his hand with her own.
